Sometimes, we find ourselves in the need to make basic adjustments to our websites. These adjustments typically involve refreshing images, updating texts, or modifying hyperlinks, all without altering the core structure of the site. Depending on the framework of our website, this task can be quite simple and may not require the assistance of a programmer. Today, we’ll explore how to perform these tasks, specifically when our website is built on WordPress using Elementor.
What is Elementor?
Elementor is a page builder designed for WordPress, empowering users to visually design and customize their WordPress pages and posts without the need for programming or coding skills.
Elementor employs a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface, making it incredibly easy to arrange elements on your webpages. You can effortlessly add sections, columns, images, buttons, and various other elements by simply dragging and dropping them onto your page layout.
With this system in place, making modifications to an existing webpage becomes a relatively straightforward process. In this tutorial, we will provide precise instructions on how to update displayed images and edit text on your website using the Elementor interface.
How to make basic changes with Elementor?
- Login to your WordPress Dashboard: You need to have administrator access to your WordPress website to install plugins. Log in to your WordPress admin panel by visiting your website’s URL and adding “/wp-admin” to the end (e.g., “yourwebsite.com/wp-admin”).
- On the left sidebar, go to the “Pages” option, and click on “All pages.”
- Scroll down to the list of active pages on the website and select the page you want to edit.
- Click on the “Edit with Elementor” option. A page editing panel will open for the selected page, and you should scroll to the element you wish to edit
Change an image
In the case of an image, clicking on the upper-right corner of the photo will reveal a small pencil icon. Click on it. On the left-hand side, the editing panel for the area will activate, and by clicking on the image, a box for selecting the new photo to use will open.
Select the new image to use from those already uploaded in the “Media Library,” or use the “Upload files” option if you want to use an image that has not yet been uploaded to the page. Click “Select” to apply the change.
Change a text
In the case of text, clicking on the upper-right corner of the column where the text is located will reveal a small pencil icon. Click on it. On the left-hand side, the editing panel for the area will activate, and you can replace the desired text.
Change a buttom
If you want to edit the link or hyperlink of a button, the procedure is similar: when you click on the right-hand end, a small pencil icon will appear. Click there. On the left-hand side, the editing panel for the area will activate, and in the “Link” option, you can replace the new URL to be used.
After making ANY changes, at the bottom of the left sidebar, click on “UPDATE,” and you’re done.
This way, you can make simple changes to your website without altering its structure, even if you have no knowledge of web programming.
